Long torso? Try our best tips for a flattering fit.

Updated: Nov 7, 2022

Everyone has their own hacks and tricks for dressing their figures. You should wear what you love! Whatever shape you are, picking pieces that suit your proportions is what will make you feel your best. For many women, learning how to dress with a long torso has been a process of trial and error. Perhaps it’s tricky to find items like a one-piece swimsuit or a pair of denim jeans that fit your midsection and don’t leave you feeling disproportionate. You may find yourself choosing pieces that only emphasized how long your top portion is.

We’re here to give you some insight to create the illusion of a balanced ‘shape’ so that you can wear any style!

1. High-waisted bottoms for the illusion of longer legs

Try out some high-waisted shorts, trousers, or jeans to compliment your long torso. The style will naturally sit higher on your waist, shrinking the length of your torso.

2. Crop tops to break up your long frame

Crop tops are a simple solution for your long torso. Visually, crop tops split your long torso into smaller sections creating a chic symmetrical illusion. Depending on the occasion, a crop top can elevate a look. Maybe don’t wear a crop top to the office - but a girl’s night out? Hell yeah.

3. Belts to add dimension across the waist

Belts are an overlooked accessory but hold so much power. Your long torso’s best friend is a belt! Add a belt to any flowy dress, or maybe even a midi skirt to create sections for the illusion of symmetry. Want to combine tips? Pair your belt with high-waisted jeans for a very effective optical illusion.
